Dangerous Goods Consultants
Western Australia

Advanced Analysis Australia is formally recognised by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (WorkSafe Petroleum Safety and Dangerous Goods Directorate) as an approved Dangerous Goods Consultant in Western Australia.

This approval authorises us to assess and endorse Dangerous Goods licence application proposals submitted to the regulator.

Understanding the Categories of Hazardous Materials

Dangerous goods are classified by their primary hazard.

While we are accredited across multiple categories, it is important to understand the common types of materials that require strict control in dangerous goods consequence analysis and licensing work:

  • Flammable Gases & Liquids: Materials that can easily ignite, posing immediate fire risks.

  • Oxidizing Agents & Organic Peroxides: Substances that can intensify fires or cause combustible materials to ignite.

  • Combustible Dust, Spontaneously Combustible & Water-Reactive Solids: Materials that can ignite on their own or emit flammable gases upon contact with water.

  • Environmentally Hazardous Substances & Misc. Dangerous Goods: Materials that pose risks to the environment or other hazards not covered by other categories.

Properly identifying these materials is the first critical step in managing the risks they present.

The Critical Role of the WA Regulator

In Western Australia, the Dangerous Goods Safety directorate under WorkSafe is responsible for regulating the manufacture, storage and handling of dangerous goods in order to protect people, property and the environment.

The directorate administers and enforces the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 and the supporting Dangerous Goods Safety Regulations 2007, which outline requirements for facility licensing, compliance, and incident investigation across dangerous goods operations.

Working with an accredited consultant such as Advanced Analysis Australia helps ensure your license application and supporting consequence analysis meet these regulatory expectations from the start, reducing the likelihood of delays, non-compliance findings, or re-work.

Dangerous Goods Consequence Analysis

For higher-hazard operations, a simple checklist is not enough. Regulators and duty holders rely on consequence analysis to understand what could happen in realistic fire, explosion or toxic release scenarios, and whether proposed controls are adequate.

Our engineers carry out quantitative consequence analysis for dangerous goods facilities, including:

  • Assessing credible loss-of-containment scenarios and escalation pathways

  • Modelling fire, explosion and toxic dispersion outcomes using exploCFD and other recognised methods

  • Estimating impacts to people, assets and neighbours (thermal radiation, overpressure, gas concentrations)

  • Providing clear, defensible inputs to risk assessments, safety reports and dangerous goods licence applications

This consequence analysis is integrated with our broader dangerous goods consulting work, so that licensing, design and operational decisions are all based on the same set of assumptions.

Our End-to-End Consulting Services

We partner with you to manage risk and achieve compliance at every stage of your dangerous goods lifecycle.

  • Dangerous Goods Licensing: We manage the entire process for your licence application, from initial site assessment and consequence analysis through to final endorsement and submission to the regulator.

  • Risk Management & Safety Reports: We identify potential failure scenarios and their impacts. A key part of this is consequence analysis, where we model the potential outcomes of incidents like fires, explosions, or toxic releases to inform your safety measures and emergency plans.

  • Compliance Audits & Site Inspections: We conduct thorough, independent audits of your operations against the regulations, identifying gaps and recommending practical solutions.

  • Operational Support & Training: We provide expert advice on safe handling procedures, storage segregation, and site-specific safety protocols.

Why Choose Advanced Analysis Australia?

With a background in high-hazard industries, we apply practical understanding of engineering and physics to dangerous goods safety.

Our focus is not only on what the rules say, but on what can realistically go wrong. By combining consequence analysis, licensing experience and independent technical review, we help you implement robust, engineered protections that truly mitigate risk.

Ensure your operations are safe, compliant, and resilient. Contact our accredited dangerous goods consultants today for a confidential discussion of your needs.

While this accreditation applies to Western Australia, our dangerous goods analysis and modelling expertise supports facilities and regulators globally.
