Dr. Madhat Abdel-Jawad
A Recognised Authority in Explosion Safety
Dr. Abdel-Jawad is an international authority in gas dynamics and explosion science. His career combines advanced academic research with industrial consultancy, a balance that has earned him recognition as one of the field’s leading specialists.
From Fundamental Research to Industrial Application
Dr. Abdel-Jawad completed his PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Queensland, focusing on hypersonics and scramjet engines, some of the most challenging areas of high-temperature, high-speed gas dynamics. This fundamental research into supersonic combustion (detonation) laid the foundation for his later work in industrial fire and explosion modelling.

Before founding Advanced Analysis, he held leadership positions globally, including as Director for leading safety consultancies in Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. In these roles, he acted as the project lead for hundreds of fire and explosion studies and accident investigations for a global client list that includes nearly every major energy operator.

The Development of exploCFD: A Vision for Better Tools
During his extensive consultancy career, Dr. Abdel-Jawad identified a critical gap in the industry. The available explosion modelling tools were either too simplistic (1-D tools) or prohibitively complex, slow, and expensive (traditional CFD), requiring highly specialised experts to operate.

His firsthand experience with the limitations of existing software revealed a clear problem. He saw past the clunky legacy codes and steep learning curves to a simple truth: the industry needed a tool that was both profoundly accurate and genuinely practical. It had to deliver reliable results without bringing projects to a standstill, finally offering an alternative to the trade-off between simplistic 1D tools and impractically complex CFD models.

This vision is what led him to build exploCFD.
